HPB: Het bijzondere leven en de invloed van Helena Blavatsky
Stichteres van de moderne Theosofische Beweging
This comprehensive and very complete biography is the result of 14 years of research and writing, and provides a fascinating account of the life and work of Helena Blavatsky. Invaluable source material, originally written in Russian, was translated especially for this book.
HP Blavatsky was one of the founders of the Theosophical Society in New York in 1875. In the West she gave a great impetus by making ideas such as karma, reincarnation, spiritual development and the sevenfold constitution of man more widely known; in the East she encouraged a revival of original Hinduism and Buddhism. Her writings were, and still are, a source of inspiration for many artists, writers, composers, philosophers and scientists.
Her world-wide travels, contacts with various mystical traditions and their followers, and the development she herself went through, made her life particularly fascinating. She fought vigorously against the rigid and materialistic ideas in religion and science. Her life was dedicated to one important goal: to bring the timeless wisdom back to the attention and thereby strengthen universal brotherhood.
