The culture of ancient Egypt captures the imagination of many people. Many also want to better understand the ideas that culture was based on. This book aims to meet this need by combining two sources of knowledge. First, there is the knowledge of Egyptologists, particularly regarding the translation of hieroglyphic texts. Second, researchers have concluded that all the great religions and philosophies of the world—including that of ancient Egypt—share a common core, known by various names such as Ancient Wisdom or Theosophy. Theosophy offers explanations for the processes that occur after death and during so-called initiation processes. The latter are processes in which a person chooses to accelerate the development of their still-dormant higher powers in order to be better able to help their fellow human beings. When studying the Egyptian Book of the Dead, one can come to realize that ancient Egyptian culture is far more deeply rooted in our contemporary culture than we ever realized. In fact, increased insight into the processes of death can further stimulate us to give the right direction to our lives.
